What does the banks’ rating downgrade mean?

Massey University banking expert says banks may face higher costs of funding but Australian analysts think not yet.

The big four New Zealand banks are likely to face a 10 basis point increase in their cost of funding after international ratings agency Moody’s downgraded their credit ratings and that of their Australian parents, says Massey University banking expert David Tripe.
