Westpac wins IRD review after staff error doubles tax

A High Court judge says Inland Revenue must review its tax treatment of Westpac after the bank took the taxman to court over old returns.

In a decision about the breadth of the tax commissioner’s powers, Justice Denis Clifford has favoured the bank's interpretation of the law.
