State of the kiwi cables
TODAY:
The Southern Cross Cable, built for $1.3b ($1.8b in today’s money) and launched in 2001, is NZ’s only major broadband connection to the outside world. It’s actually a twin system of cables, forming a figure 8 between Sydney, Auckland, Hawaii and the US.
