The New Zealand Racing Board has been accused of trying to cover its butt by issuing a damaging statement after the acquittal of First Sovereign Trust in a pub pokie fraud case.

The Rotorua-based trust, its trustees and ceo Kerry Bird were prosecuted by the Department of Internal Affairs
