Singapore Airlines cans 'Capital Express' in favour of Melbourne

Direct flights between Wellington and Canberra will cease on April 30.

Singapore Airlines is canning the "Capital Express" – a direct air link from Wellington to Singapore via Canberra – in favour of a flight through Melbourne.

Industry observers have long been sceptical of the route's viability, mainly due to the lack of New Zealanders wanting to fly to Canberra.
