The banks of dairy companies have taken action after the reducing price of milk solids affected sharemilkers' ability to pay debts.

A drop in the dairy pay-out has tipped two Taranaki sharemilkers into liquidation, in what is at least the fifth dairy business to go under since milk prices first dried up.
Dairy prices between March and August this year plummeted by more than 50% at the GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) auction.
