Reserve Bank ‘torched’ the idea of an early OCR rise, economist says

But ANZ chief economist Cameron Bagrie says there will still be lots of pressure on banks to raise deposit rates.

The Reserve Bank has firmly ended speculation that it would increase the official cash rate (OCR) sooner than the market had been anticipated.

Reserve Bank governor Graeme Wheeler left the OCR on hold this morning – a move widely expected by economists.
