REDWOOD, Rob

From humble beginnings, Rob Redwood has grown to become one of Foodstuffs’ most valued employees.

Redwood began working at his local Four Square part-time as a teenager. In 1987 he received one of the organisation’s scholarship awards, later buying a Cut Price store in Taumarunui and converting it into a Four Square.

He bought New World Hillcrest in Hamilton, before continuing to move north, buying Auckland’s Eastridge New World in 1995. In 2014 he bought Pak’n Save Glen Innes, one of the country’s busiest supermarkets; it’s estimated to turn over more than $3m a week in sales.

Redwood was appointed to the Foodstuffs North Island board in 2013. He serves on several of the organisation’s committees, including the operator development and approval committee, the succession remuneration and nomination committee, and the business transformation banner committee.

He has a small but significant property portfolio that includes a $7m family home in Remuera, a $2.8m holiday house at Omaha and a $7.9m commercial property in South Auckland. He lives with wife Jackie and has four children, with son Michael carrying on the family tradition by working at Pak’n Save.
