New Zealand banks will probably need more capital
New Zealand banks probably only rank in the middle of the pack in terms of capital.
Although the Reserve Bank isn’t expressly saying so, comments it has made today suggest New Zealand banks will have to carry more capital.
In a speech to the NZ Bankers’ Association, deputy governor Grant Spencer said the central bank will seek to balance the soundness of the banking system
