Karaka sales clock $45m in first two days

The average price of the premiere sales increased 4% on last year, finishing just over $150,000.

Total takings for the National Yearling Premiere Sales at Karaka on Monday and Tuesday came in just under $45 million for 298 lots sold, with the top price paid matching last year’s high of $800,000.

That amount was paid by David Ellis: the first time a filly has topped the two-day premier sale
