Job data shows bloom and boom – perhaps too much so

The job market is going like gangbusters.

Average hourly earnings are, at 2.2%, back up above inflation.

The workforce participation rate just hit another record high, at 71.1% of the workforce.

Labour costs rose to 1.9%, year on year.

Oh, and unemployment fell from 4.8% to 4.6% – lower
