Greenhouse gases up 19.6% on 1990 levels

Greenhouse gas emissions had increased 19.6% by 2016 when compared with 1990 levels, according to the government’s latest inventory on emissions.

There is some good news. Gross emissions in 2016 were 78.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, a 2.4% drop compared with 2015.
