It is easy to forget how far the government has come in terms of its financial position.
In last week’s budget all the figures looked good. The Treasury is forecasting surpluses, rising to $7.3 billion in 2021-22, with net debt as a proportion of GDP falling to 19.1%. It is now just 21.7%
