Entry and exit of retailers a threat to property investors

If a major retailer needs to exit, then receivership is the best means of escape and there is nothing a landlord can do about it.

New Zealand property investors would do better securing leases with traditional retailers than pursuing long leases with new entrants.

This is the view of property consultant RCG director Paul Keane.

He says history has shown new entrants have less chance of surviving than the traditional chains
