The Earthquake Commission is shedding staff at a quick pace as it hits its 70th anniversary.
The Earthquake and War Damage Commission and its disaster fund was set up in January 1945.
Its biggest test was Canterbury’s 14,000-odd earthquakes between September 2010 and the end of 2011.
