Germany’s big three premium carmakers have joined together to buy the Nokia Here digital mapping service.
Audi (and therefore Volkswagen), BMW and Daimler have paid $US3.1 billion for the technology, which is used in 80% of new-car information systems and covers more than 200 countries.
