Unexpectedly strong GDP growth makes RBNZ rate cut less likely in August.

Economic growth has again defied forecasters, rising 2.8% year on year and 0.7% for the March quarter.

The average market forecast was for a 0.5% rise for the quarter and 2.6% increase year on year. The Reserve Bank anticipated a rise of 0.6% for the quarter and 2.7% for the year.
