Big spend on new Auckland trains to be decided next week

Within months trains will be carrying a record 20 million passengers every year.

Auckland Council will next week decide whether to spend $207 million on buying 17 new electric and battery-powered trains.  

However, whether the new trains hit the tracks depends on the NZ Transport Agency coughing up half the cost.
