Auckland councillor Greg Sayers claims Mayor Phil Goff has made direct threats that if he doesn’t vote to introduce a targeted rate on 330 hotels and motels his electorate will suffer a backlash.

But the Mayor, through a spokesman, has denied making any threats. The spokesman says Mr Goff wants
