Auckland Council wants every cent of the government’s housing infrastructure fund

The government has received $1.5 billion worth of bids from councils across the country for funds but Auckland wants it all.

Prime Minister Bill English has revealed Auckland Council has applied for the government’s entire $1 billion Housing Infrastructure Fund, which it made available for councils around New Zealand.

The contestable fund, unveiled last July, is for interest-free loans for councils in high-growth
