Wynyard Group [NZX: WYN] is pleased to announce the appointment of Fiona Oliver as an independent director of Wynyard effective today.
“We are delighted to have Fiona join the Wynyard Board following a thorough recruitment process. Fiona brings extensive business and governance strength and skill to complement the Board and will particularly provide strategic and financial guidance to the company,” said Wynyard Group Chairman Dr. Murray Horn.
Fiona has significant diverse domestic and international governance and business leadership experience, with financial, legal and risk management skills developed over more than 25 years in addition to her specialist knowledge of the capital markets, investments and the commercial sector.
Most recently Fiona was General Manager, Wealth Management, for AMP NZ where she was responsible for managing over $10bn of retail investor funds.
Prior to this, Fiona was the Chief Operating Officer for BT Funds Management, Westpac’s investment arm where she held full P&L responsibility. Fiona has also managed risk management functions for private equity businesses and her earlier career was in law where she held a number of senior roles in both private practice and in-house.
Fiona is a member of the Inland Revenue, Risk & Assurance Committee and was appointed to the board of Public Trust in 2009 before becoming Deputy Chair in 2013. She is also a board member of the National Provident Fund and the New Zealand Chair of one of the largest privately owned integrated property groups in Australia, Vinta. Fiona is also on the Treasury local selection panel for potential Crown and State Owned Enterprise non-executive board applicants.
The Board has determined that Fiona is an independent director. Her appointment takes the number of directors to seven, with five independent and two non-independent.
