A commitment to diversity in the workplace is behind Asteron Life being named the 2015 Women's Employer of the Year at the New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards, says managing director Nadine Tereora.

Asteron picked up the award while also being named Best Life Insurance Company at the event held on November 6 at Sky City.

“We have a number of practices in our workplace and one of those is an equal remuneration policy that we independently look at every year,” Ms Tereora tells NBR Radio’s Andrew Patterson, adding that 50% of her leadership team is female.

“Another thing is our commitment to flexible working right across the business. We also have a huge commitment to learning and development opportunities.”
