The carrier says it has spent $22 million on Huawei electronics to spruce up FibreX, which runs through parts of Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch
Vodafone is also guaranteeing a new install will take place within three working days, or the customer will get a $100 credit (a pledge that’s easier to enforce given FibreX is wholly controlled by Vodafone, unlike UFB fibre which it wholesales from Chorus and others).
Engineers from Downer – which recently got elbowed out of Chorus work in favour of Visionstream – will carry out the installs.
Plans include the naked (that is, no phone line) unlimited data ‘FibreX Max’ gigabit network plan for $109.99 per month on a 24-month term and the naked, unlimited data ‘FibreX 200’ – which offers up to 200Mbps download speeds for $79.99 per month on a 24-month term.
The Commerce Commission is due to rule on the Vodafone-Sky TV merger on November 11.
