Wellington-based tech start-up Wipster says its new deal with Vimeo could be worth millions in revenue.
Wipster is a cloud-based video sharing and annotation application where users can put notes on videos, primarily for feedback.
The exclusive partnership means Vimeo’s 700,000 paying customers (35 million total) have access to a subscription to Wipster at a reduced price – $US12 a month instead of the $US15 starting price.
The integration means Vimeo customers can quickly import files from their Vimeo account into Wipster, and then publish approved material back to their Vimeo account.
The company, which has 14 staff, is being coy about the financial details of the partnership, which it hinted to NBR in November, but chief operating officer Kristen Lunman says even if half of Vimeo’s paying users signed up, Wipster would turn over several million dollars a month.
Ms Lunman wouldn’t say how many users Wipster currently has but the company revealed it had at least 50,000 total users in November, 3800 of which are paying. About 85% are based in the US.
