Dial M for mistake.

Internet calling company 2talk has had its phone systems down for most of the morning, resulting in some of the firm's customers being unable to make and receive phone calls.

The company has posted some updates to one of its Twitter accounts, with the most recent at 1:15pm promising service has been fully restored.

Earlier, the company tweeted that "some customers" were experiencing issues with calls. NBR is one of those affected.

At midday the company told its clients the problems were resolved. However, its systems went down again shortly afterward.

A source who works with 2talk says two issues had arisen and, once one was resolved, the second issue occurred 20 minutes later.

A report from 2talk explaining why the issues occurred is pending.

The company is part of CallPlus Group, which was bought by ASX-listed M2 for $250 million in April and now trades as M2 New Zealnd.

2talk responds

1. There was a post dial delay issue today that started at 12.20 and was fully resolved by 1.10 pm.  This did not impact all customers and calls were still proceeding albeit with some post dial delay.

2.  We are aware of an issue specific to NBR that started at 1am this morning.  This issue was cause by a fault on one of the circuits that you use to send your calls to 2talk.  This issue did not impact any other 2talk customers.  Once a fault was raised we took action to resolve the connectivity issue as quickly as possible, we also understand your reseller took steps to move your traffic to the redundant link you have in place for connectivity.

NBR's broadband had no issues.
