The central North Island fibre consortium Ultrafast Broadband has announced its new chief executive, Maxine Elliott
Maxine Elliott, formerly of Vector, has been announced as the chief executive of the central North Island fibre consortium, Ultrafast Broadband.
Ms Elliott most recently worked as Vector Communications general manager and also held a number of other positions with the company, a release from Ultrafast Broadband said.
As chief executive, she would oversee the rollout of fibre to Hamilton, including Cambridge and Te Awamutu, Tauranga, Tokoroa, New Plymouth, Hawera and Wanganui, the release said.
UFB would be delivered to about 163,000 houses, reaching 12% of New Zealand population, the release said.
Ultrafast Broadband chair Rodger Fisher said in the release that the consortium was please to have a chief executive with experience in deploying, operating and marketing fibre networks.
“Maxine’s understanding of both the fibre and the electricity networks businesses, her strong general management background and customer focus, all combine to make her an excellent CEO," Mr Fisher said.
UFB roll out has already begun in the central North Island with the first firm connected in Hamilton in July. The deployment is part of the Government’s plan to invest $1.3 billion in delivering UFB to the door of 75% of New Zealand’s population by the end of 2019.
Ultrafast Broadband’s rollout is expected to take five years and estimated to cost more than $300 million, the company has said.
