The KiwiSaver industry has attracted its own “Uber moment” says the co-founder of Simplicity, a new not-for-profit fund aimed at slashing management fees.

Sam Stubbs says investors have been crying out for a lower-cost platform and the industry needs a shakeup.

“We are calling it the Uber moment. It’s the moment when a traditional lazy industry with very high profits suddenly gets a challenge from a completely new business model,” Mr Stubbs tells NBR Radio’s Andrew Patterson.

Mr Stubbs also addresses some of NBR readers’ own questions including how Simplicity differs from other low-cost passive funds such as Superlife.

His comments follow the launch of the new fund yesterday. See our earlier story here.
