Slingshot has re-launched its "All You Can Eat" unlimited data broadband plan, for the first 5000 new residential customers to sign up.
Slingshot has re-launched its “All You Can Eat”broadband plan for a limited time to 5000 customers.
A release from the company said the plan was first introduced in August 2010, and was available to new residential customers until September 30, for the first 5000 to sign up. Customers must have their own modem and a Slingshot homeline to sign up for the All You Can Eat deal.
The deal is available for half price for the first six months of the year-long contract, at $40, the release said. In its terms and conditions, Slingshot states that “unlimited” broadband plans means unlimited data uploads and downloads. However it also says prices may vary depending on the customer’s location, with broadband not available in all places.
Slingshot general manager Scott Page said in the release that customers had responded in the past to the plan’s price certainty, and valued download capacity over peak speed.
“Incredibly, several of our customers regularly download more than a Terabyte each month.”
Mr Page said there was more and more demand for Internet content, with videos, games and social networking requiring large amounts of data very quickly, and could result in large bills or a slowed broadband experience.
The announcement follows Vodafone's statement it would increase data allowances for fixed line customers by 50%, Telecom’s announcement that it would double broadband data allowances for some residential customers, and Orcon’s launch of the Genius.
