Sky TV [NZX: SKT] is investigating an error message that discourages users from watching the pay-TV network operator's on-demand website, Sky Go.
The warning message pops up on Google Chrome after a user has logged in and selects a programme to watch.
It reads: "Attackers on prod-ak.images.skygo.co.nz may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing your personal information (for example, passwords, phone numbers, or credit cards)."
Spokeswoman Kirsty Way says Sky TV has identified the issue.
"It relates to how Google identifies a SKY GO host directory. We are in contact with Google to rectify this but cannot provide a resolution time just yet," she says.
"Users can click past the alert (they must first click the small ‘details’ link) but the impression given by the page is to not do so."
On Wednesday, Sky TV chief executive John Fellett said there was a fix in the works for the troubled website, which inconveniently and frequently buckles when a major sporting event is on.
