Open letter to Wellington Mayor mocks fellow NBR Rich Lister. With special audio feature
Unlike some NBR Rich Listers, Gareth Morgan has never been shy about his philanthropy, or his various causes.
Now, in an open letter to Wellington's mayor, Sir Bob Jones has proposed a monument in Dr Morgan's honour of appropriate scale: a 5000-metre high statue.
Sir Bob also proposes a six-building Department of Morgan Studies at Victoria University,
Although Sir Bob has gone to some degree of trouble over his proposal, including donating one of his buildings as a plinth, researching height limits, commissioning an economic impact report and procuring an artist's impression of the completed erection (pictured), Dr Morgan has indicated he is not 100% on board with the concept, replying "Thanks Sir B for your ongoing adulation, ask the rest home to decrease the sugar in your diet."
