Some 977 apartments or terrace houses have been completed in Auckland since 2012, with another 2462 under construction and 2410 in the pre-sales and marketing phase.

RCG and TransportBlog have launched what they call RCG Development Tracker, which is a web page mapping  developments across Auckland) excluding traditional subdivisions.

Some projects, like the Turing Building in Grey Lynn, have recently been completed and residents are moving in.

Ockham Residential agent Maria Salmon says there are eight of 27 units still available.

Her firm will launch marketing for the Hypatia apartments in March at 246 Khyber Pass Rd, Grafton.

Another on Ockham’s books is Station R at 11 Fenton St, Mt Eden where construction will be completed in May. More than half the units have sold.

The much larger Sugartree Prima building is also nearing completion, while cranes have been installed for the Urba Residences and The Boutique. Piling work is under way at 88 Broadway, and a sales office is being built at Wynyard Quarter, for apartments there.

TransportBlog and RCG say the RCG Development Tracker will be the most comprehensive source of public data on developments in New Zealand.

It will cover apartments and terraces, as well as hotel, retail, office and retirement village projects.

So far, it includes information on developments comprising 30,797 residential units, 2794 accommodation units, 513,112m2 of retail space, and 345,864m2 of office space.

The RCG Development Tracker can be found at here and includes an interactive map.

RCG hopes the web service will become a resource for media, the development industry and general public.

RCG specialises in property consulting and development, architecture and design and research and strategy.

The tracker information is put together by John Polkinghorne, an associate director of RCG.

Bare land is also a feature of the Auckland apartment development scene.

One of the latest offerings complete with a resource consent for an apartment tower is a 645m2 rectangular site at 51-53 Albert St for sale by private treaty through Colin McKenna, Bayleys Auckland, with a closing date of February 28.

He says it is one of the few available sites not already snapped up by developers or land bankers.

The resource consent allows for a 46-storey tower, plus air space rights over the neighbouring property as well as holding income from a current lease to Wilson Parking.

The resource consent was granted in February 2009, with an extension secured for another three years from February last year.

The current owner no longer wants to proceed.

The property overlooks Waitemata Harbour and St Patrick’s Square. The property to the immediate north is the 1920s Prince Albert Apartments building, which were redeveloped in the 1980s.
