The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga territory chose RAPP after a competitive pitch against two other finalist agencies, a release from the agency said, but managing director Robert Limb said he would not comment on who these agencies were.
The previous incumbents were the Ad Partners Group based in Australia, Mr Limb said.
Rapp Tribal, of DDB, would handle advertising and digital services for the Salvation Army, with an initial focus on the Red Shield and Christmas Appeal campaigns, Mr Limb said. He said the agency was hoping to build a long term relationship with Salvation Army.
He said Rapp were “thrilled” to have Salvation Army’s business.
Salvation Army marketing manager James Partridge said in a release that he had been looking for a new idea and fresh direction for the Red Shield Appeal campaign, and said the agency had created as strong call to action for their concept, and showed its application across both an external and internal audience.
Mr Limb said while previous work had been successful, Rapp Tribal believed they had found something fresh, but that he could not say more.
“We feel very fortunate to be associated with such as important organisation that has provided over 128 years of valuable service to New Zealanders affected by poverty, addiction, abuse and other social issues.”
Mr Limb said he could not comment on what the partnership was worth.
