REANNZ Ltd, the high performance telecommunications network for New Zealand's research, education and innovation community, has appointed Nicole Ferguson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective late October 2015.
She replaces outgoing CEO Steve Cotter, who is leaving next month to head GÉANT, the pan-European research & education network.
Jim Donovan, Chair of REANNZ, comments: "Nicole has an in-depth understanding of our business, having previously been Chief Financial Officer, and she has played a key part in most of our major developments in recent years.
“Coupled with her commercial acumen, she is passionate about our role connecting New Zealand's researchers, educators and innovators to the world. Under her leadership, REANNZ will continue to develop our world-class network capabilities while supporting a major uplift of New Zealand participation in data-intensive research, education, and innovation," says Donovan.
Ferguson returns to REANNZ after a short spell working with Inland Revenue.
“I’m passionate about the function REANNZ plays in connecting New Zealand's researchers, educators and innovators to the world, and the opportunity to come back and lead the organisation, which I know extremely well and respect enormously, was just too good to pass up,” she says.
Prior to joining REANNZ, Ferguson worked in senior financial services roles at both KPMG and for Publicis Groupe. She has a Bachelor of Law, from Victoria University, Wellington, coupled with a Bachelor of Administration and Accounting, and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
