Is the Auckland housing market going to crash?
As house prices continue to rise ahead of rents and incomes, Auckland Council chief economist Chris Parker says this makes the market vulnerable to a massive price correction.
He says the market is not quite at the bubble stage but it’s not far off it.
Mr Parker has set out the reasons why and how it can be overcome. He says there are a range of things that should and can be done and people’s perception that nothing can be done is wrong.
In Christchurch the continuing saga of Dave Henderson and liquidator Robert Walker carries on.
In the latest twist accounting giant PwC is appealing against Mr Walker’s attempt to have it joined to a lawsuit against Mr Henderson’s group of companies.
Company directors are being sued in the case. PwC was the auditor of Property Ventures, which went into liquidation five years ago owing $70 million.

The physical heart of Auckland is to get a major revamp and Auckland Council is holding guided public walking tours of the Aotea Precinct to get public feedback into its plans.
Aotea Centre is to get a $64 million makeover and under-developed council sites around the centre are to be revamped and made into retail, apartments, office buildings and plazas and courtyards.
Private investment is also being sought for some of the development work.
