The controversial government torpedoing of the Lochinver Station sale to Chinese company Shanghai Pengxin has created a storm on both sides of the argument.

Chris Hutching and Sally Lindsay look at the implications for the government, farm sales and the Stevenson Group, which was selling the property.

Predicted congestion on the capital’s CBD streets has the regional council asking the government to change the laws on implementing a tax to prevent cars from flooding into the central city.

Wellington Regional and Auckland Councils have joined forces to urge the government to look at ways to fund roading and public transport projects to avoid congestion. So far the government has been mute.

It is 20 years since motorcycle design trailblazer John Britten died and the Cantabrian’s achievements are being marked in a fitting way. Chris Hutching looks at the tribute to Mr Britten who died at 45 from a malignant melanoma.
