Waikato-based food manufacturer Prolife Foods has expanded its brand portfolio by purchasing Kapiti Coast jam business Te Horo for an undisclosed sum.
Te Horo jam has been made by a farm-based family business using 100% New Zealand fruit since 1991.
Prolife Foods chief executive officer Andrew Smith says the company moved into the spreads range with honey and peanut butter last year and "Te Horo jam is a great addition to the line-up.”
Te Horo produces eight jam varieties – Raspberry, Plum, Orange Marmalade, Strawberry, Blackberry, Apricot, Boysenberry and Grapefruit Marmalade – and won a Cuisine Artisan Award in 2012.
Prolife Foods is a leading importer, manufacturer and marketer of nuts, dried fruit, snack food, cereals and confectionery products under the Mother Earth, Alison’s Pantry and Donovans Chocolate brand labels.
Another leading fruit processor and jam-maker, Barker's of Geraldine, in April sold a controlling share of its business to French-based multinational Andros in a move that will expand export sales.
