Wayne Hay and Janika ter Ellen to front Prime News.
Former 60 Minutes news presenter Wayne Hay will take the helm of the 30-minute, 5:30pm news programme each weeknight.
Janika ter Ellen will join Mr Hay as a news reporter and will also anchor weekend bulletins.
SKY says the bulletin will be able to draw on MediaWorks' "more than 200 TV, radio and digital news staff nationwide as well as foreign correspondents in Europe and Australia.”
In a release SKY TV chief executive John Fellett acknowledged that viewers would be keen to see the return of Eric Young – who has fronted the bulletin since March 2006 – but "due to his current commitments this is not possible from launch" [NBR's italics].
"Eric is deservedly a popular and professional member of the Prime team and should his circumstances change we would welcome the opportunity to work with him again."
The bulletin will feature a “contemporary new set and graphics.”
The new programme will broadcast from Sunday 1 March on Prime.
