New Zealand’s leading statutory trust business, Perpetual Guardian, has made a senior management appointment, naming Lynne Carroll Head of Risk and Compliance. Ms Carroll brings more than 15 years’ experience in compliance and risk management from senior roles with large financial entities in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Ms Carroll joins the business from HSBC and was most recently based in London, where she supported two global banks through conduct risk and compliance projects in the complex post-GFC regulatory environment in the UK and European Union. She previously held senior management roles in compliance at Westpac and AMP in New Zealand.
Ms Carroll says her role at Perpetual Guardian will be focused on ensuring best practice risk and compliance frameworks meet an increasingly complex regulatory environment. “Compliance in New Zealand is an evolving field, and I will be responsible for managing changes to existing and new compliance obligations as they come on-stream, and also ensuring that we have an open and collaborative relationship with the regulators.
“Based on my offshore experience I am also conscious of New Zealand’s position globally and our responsibility to also comply with international requirements and risk management standards. There are many exciting opportunities with a company evolving as rapidly as Perpetual Guardian, a business based on established and trusted brands that is taking an innovative and expansive approach to trustee services.”

We are very pleased to welcome her to the business.”
Before entering the compliance and risk management sector in the late 1990s Ms Carroll worked in legal services for entities including the Crown Prosecution Service, the Department of Justice, Bell Gully and Carter Holt Harvey.
