Crown Company Otakaro Limited has today announced the appointment of Albert Brantley to the role of Chief Executive.

Tue, 19 Apr 2016

Crown Company Otakaro Limited has today announced the appointment of Albert Brantley to the role of Chief Executive, effective 2 May 2016.

The appointment comes after Otakaro officially took on responsibilities for the delivery of Christchurch’s anchor projects and precincts yesterday.

Mr. Brantley joins Otakaro following eight years as Chief Executive of Genesis Energy. His leadership experience spans a range of highly complex, international industries.

Otakaro Chair Ross Butler said the appointment was a major coup for the company and the city.

“Albert’s expertise speaks for itself. He has significant commercial and community experience, which is the crucial mix we need to ensure Otakaro is a success. The Otakaro directors and I are delighted to have secured someone of his calibre for the people of Christchurch and we are especially pleased to have a Cantabrian in the role.”

“Otakaro has been set-up to run as a commercially focused property company and to accelerate the delivery of the anchor projects,” said Mr. Butler.

“At Otakaro we are about getting things done and sustaining strong relationships with the private sector of the CBD and our community. This is not an easy task but Albert has the experience and reputation to deliver on this,” said Mr Butler.

Mr. Brantley said he was looking forward to taking up his role.

“This is an exciting time to be part of the Christchurch regeneration story and as a Canterbury resident, I am honoured to be leading the team as we embark on this exciting new phase for the city.

“The work that the Board and Establishment Unit have done to get Otakaro up and running is remarkable. The people of Christchurch should be confident that this new company will make a real difference for the city – I am delighted that I have a chance to play a part in it,” Mr. Brantley said.

Mr. Brantley and his family live in Kaiapoi, Christchurch, and he is a trustee of St. Margaret’s College.
