Award-winning NZME business reporter Christopher Adams has died in Cambodia while on holiday.
Cambodian news outlets have reported that he died of an apparent drug overdose at the Angkor International hotel in Phnom Penh.
Colleagues at the New Zealand Herald praised the popular 34-year-old for his "dogged contact work and old-school reporting."
"Adams will be sorely missed by the Business Herald team, where he was a friend and respected colleague,” the paper said.
"He had a selfless attitude to chasing the news and was fearless in asking the tough questions of New Zealand business."
Mr Adams won top prize in 2015 at the New Zealand China Council media awards for his articles on the infant formula market in China.
He wrote the Herald’s weekly Stock Takes column on sharemarket news.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
NBR acknowledges Mr Adams' fine work over the years and would like to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
