UPDATED with Monday morning medal tallies.

Two sprint golds have seen Jamaica move past New Zealand this morning to top the table for gold medals per head of population.

In top medials, NZ has also slipped from the top of the per capita rankings with Slovenia now topping the table.

In the official total media count New Zealand is currently 14th, ahead of Australia on 24th (although interestingly our convict cousins – sitting 27th on the per-capita table are the only country whose total and per-population medal counts are closely aligned).

UPDATE: New Zealander Craig Nevill-Manning – one of Google's first employees – has launched www.medalspercapita.com, a site which not only ranks medals by population but by GDP.

By this ranking New Zealand is tent

Nevill-Manning also ranks countries by population.

NBR ONLINE isn't sure this is an Olympic event.

But for the record NZ is 123rd – and will probably be stuck there, bar a major power cut during the Games.
