NBR Rich Listers knighted in Queen's Birthday Honours

NBR Rich Listers Sir Michael Friedlander and Sir Christopher Mace have capped their successes in business by being knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
They are among seven new knighthoods and a host of other honours featuring high-profile business people.
Sir Michael is knighted for services to philanthropy in recognition of his Friedlander Foundation and Sir Christopher is knighted for services to science and education. Others to receive knighthoods include Sir Robert Fenwick, for services to conservation and business, Sir Matiu Te Rei, for services to Maori, Sir Ronald Young for services to the judiciary, Dame Ellen France for services to the judiciary and Dame Karen Sewell, for services to education.
Meanwhile, Westpac NZ chairwoman Jan Dawson has been made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to governance and former Westpac chairman Peter Wilson has been made a member of the Order of Merit.
A number of prominent business leaders have been made officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit. Among them, former NZ Venture Investment Fund chief executive Franceska Banga, company director Liz Coutts, former Business New Zealand chief executive Phil O’Reilly, Allied Press director Nick Smith and public relations consultant and company director Sarah Paykel.
