NBR ONLINE's audience hits 104,000

Nielsen panel shows NBR Radio, new features boosting traffic | The "phat scrubber" goes live.

Fri, 24 Jul 2015

NBR ONLINE is now reaching an audience of 104,000, as tracked by Nielsen’s Online Ratings service for June 2015.

Nielsen’s digital measurement hybrid methodology uses data from both a people panel and sever-based tags.

In January this year, it found NBR ONLINE had a unique audience of 71,000.

In February, the figure grew to 83,000; in March it hit 93,000. Momentum has continued with the audience pushing through the 100,000 mark.

NBR ONLINE's audience has been fuelled by growth in IP or organisation-wide subscriptions. There are now 348 IP subs (most are listed here), with recent arrivals including Tainui Group Holdings and the Department of Internal Affairs.

Interest has been stoked by a number of new initiatives at NBR ONLINE.

The website had a major makeover in October, delivering a cleaner look, a responsive design for mobile and more customisation options.

This year has seen the introduction of NBR Radio and the on-demand MyNBR Radio, plus new initiatives like the recently introduced key-word email alerts for keeping tabs on specific companies or people.

The upgrades keep coming. The latest is what we call the "phat scrubber" — an upgrade to our NBR Radio on-demand audio player that includes pause, fast forward and rewind options (check it out with this story). You need to be a member subscriber to access on-demand audio. If you don't have a sub, hit nbr.co.nz/free or nbr.co.nz/subscribe.

NBR’s newsroom has also been expanded with new hires including Tim Hunter and Jenny Ruth (check out the Meet our Journos page for bios).

Things are likely to keep heading north. Next week will see the release of NBR’s annual Rich List, which is typically the publication’s highest-rating online event of the year.
