The campaign launch was organised to the hilt: placards carrying campaign slogans and hashtags were slotted into the seats before the crowd arrived.

Taking place out at Trusts Arena in West Auckland, attendees entered in an orderly fashion; a more subdued affair than Labour's campaign launch the previous Sunday.

National hit back hard at Labour's campaign launch, with Prime Minister Bill English throwing an attack in his speech: "Hard-working New Zealanders are not an ATM for the Labour party."

Even though Jacindamania has Labour closing the gap with the current ruling party, National party devotees are adamant they will prevail.
