Property worth more than $34 million has been restrained as part of civil proceedings against companies associated with a “well-known, Auckland-based restaurant chain,” police say.
A statement released this afternoon says police officers from the Northern Asset Recovery Unit today initiated the proceedings against “several companies” associated with the chain.
This follows a joint investigation involving Immigration NZ, the Labour Inspectorate, Inland Revenue and police.
Immigration New Zealand general manager Peter Devoy says people who derive income from Immigration-related criminal activity will now be the focus of interagency attention.
The matter is due before the High Court at Auckland early next year.
