Mini News Munchies: Bacon for Buffalo

Bacon bits
Buffalo Creative has won the Goodman Fielder Kiwi Bacon account.

The win comes after a competitive pitch.

The account and incumbent M&C Saatchi parted ways a few months back.

"In the last year we have done only one campaign for them, which had great results," M&C CEO Darryn Melrose said.

"We certainly enjoyed working with the team at Goodman Fielder, but it was an account we got through the personal relationship of our former CEO and with his departure the work came to a halt, as we expected."

So who’s Buffalo when it’s at home? It’s a fully integrated creative and design agency. Just two and a half years old, it already has a few horses in the stable: Massey University, New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games, Fletcher Aluminum and Methven.

Tim Barry is the director and Jason Anderson is the creative director.

Ogilvy vs Total
Meanwhile, Ogilvy has won the media buying (online, offline, except search, strategic planning, implementation, analytics, negotiations and portfolio management), taking it off Total Media.

It’ll start on October 1.

Ogilvy’s Nina Bialostocki is chuffed.

“These are exciting times for both us and the Flight Centre as they look to launch new products into the market and we’re delighted to be the business partner that they’ve chosen to bring this strategy to life.”

Jo Tait, Flight Centre GM of Marketing, is equally happy.

“It’s an exciting time for our business as we have a focus squarely on growth and we are looking forward to our partnership with Ogilvy Media in this regard."

Clemenger Group does a DDB
Clemenger Group is following in the footsteps of DDB and spoiling its party, as it announces it has created a human resources role.

Until now, DDB has been the only agency to have a fulltime, dedicated HR person.

Margot Chandler has been appointed and will take the title People Development Director.

Clemenger Group CEO Jim Moser said the company has done well to manage HR through the Finance and Administration departments, but changes in the market have prompted the hiring.

“Margot is the perfect fit for us as she has a tremendous amount of relevant experience, understands the communications industry and will be an excellent cultural fit for the broader Clemenger Group.”

Ms Chandler comes from Vector where she was Capability Manager and is a former journalist with TVNZ, BBC Radio and BBC Television.
