Meredith Connell keeps Crown job for Auckland

Meredith Connell’s Brian Dickey will continue as Crown solicitor for Auckland when the Crown warrant splits in mid-May.
While Meredith Connell continues with all Crown prosecution work for Auckland, the newly created Manukau warrant has gone to Natalie Walker.
Ms Walker is a former Meredith Connell partner, now at Kayes Fletcher Walker.
In October last year Attorney-General Chris Findlayson decided to split the Auckland region’s warrants from one to two.
The decision followed the appointment of former Meredith Connell partner Simon Moore QC to the High Court bench, as well the enactment of the Criminal Procedure Act and funding changes.
Meredith Connell has held the Crown warrant for Auckland since 1922.
The Attorney-General says in a release seven applications were received for the contracts.
Mr Dickey says today more than 80% of the firm’s work is other legal work but Crown criminal prosecutions are central to its values as “the country’s leading litigation firm.”
He says talks will begin with Ms Walker next week on how to hand over work under the new Manukau warrant.
Meredith Connell has 26 partners, 118 lawyers and 67 support staff across offices in Auckland and Wellington.
