MediaCom Australia has won the $70 million media account for the Westpac Group.
A spokesman for Westpac New Zealand said the change in agency did not affect Westpac New Zealand, which would not be changing its current agency, Starcom.
MediaCom Australia beat out incumbents OMD, which had been with the bank for three years, as well as beating pitches from Aegis and Universal McCann, the release said.
The agency will handle the strategy, planning and buying for the Westpac Group of companies including St George, Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA.
However online search would be handled by each brand within the group individually.
Transition arrangements for the three year deal start October 10 with official commencement on December 1.
MediaCom Australasian chief executive Toby Jenner told NBR that the agency had a clearly defined approach to delivering business results in the real world which set it apart from others.
“OMD have done a good job, so we had to ensure that we raised the bar across every component of the brief to give a demonstrable reason to change.”
The tender was part of an ongoing renewal of all supplier agreements by Westpac.
