Yesterday Victoria Crone announced she had resigned her leadership role with Xero to take a tilt at the Auckland mayoralty in next year’s election.
Today she agreed to an interview with NBR Radio’s Andrew Patterson.
Ms Crone has already made clear she won’t be discussing policy for at least a few months and will be spending the intervening time seeking the views of Aucklanders about what they see as the key challenges facing the city.
As a result of this, the interview features close questioning from Mr Patterson about what’s motivated her to throw her hat in the ring, how committed she is to addressing Auckland’s various issues – and whether her business career to date has really equipped her with the experience and core competencies required to run the most complex local government organisation in the country.
