The number of real estate agents who have renewed their licences will be known in about six weeks.
Real estate agents must renew their licences by March 31.
The number of agents has fallen over the past three years in line with the smaller number of residential real estate sales.
The Real Estate Agents Authority is warning agents to ensure they research the title of a property or employ an expert to do so.
Agents are also responsible for ensuring they know council zoning requirements for a property.
Disclosure obligations also feature in a newsletter to agents, warning them to reveal all aspects of their interest in a property.
From 2012 agents must also complete 20 hours of continuing education in the year.
There are currently 13,980 licenced agents (of which a small minority are company licences) and 3249 suspended licences.
During the second half of 2011 there were 428 “concerns” registered with investigations, resulting in 44 decisions of unsatisfactory conduct and four prosecutions by the Disciplinary Tribunal.
